Chairs
Ben Edwards and Andreas Ette, Co-ordinators of the SLLS Refugees Across the Life Course Group
Abstract
The presentation will introduce the study “Refugees from Ukraine in Germany” and focus specifically on the survey of adolescents aged between 11 and 17 years, who were interviewed in spring 2024 and one year later. First, it will describe the methodological feature of the adolescents’ survey, including issues regarding consent and survey mode. Then, it will present results on well-being, measured by a range of indicators, such as broad life satisfaction, internalizing symptoms and externalizing behaviour, pro-social behaviour and school belonging. The presentation will conclude by highlighting the challenges and advantages of surveying refugee adolescents directly, and the policy lessons that can be learn to support their wellbeing.
