The Early Origins of Socioeconomic Inequalities in Inflammation: Existing Evidence and Recommendations for Life Course Researchers
Presenter
Kavindi Walpita Gamage, PhD Student in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute, Melbourne, Australia
Chair
Tony Robertson, Executive Editor, Longitudinal and Life Course Studies (LLCS) International Journal
Abstract
Early life is an important period for the biological embedding of the social environment and the generation of health inequalities. Inflammation may be a key intermediate mechanism. This webinar will summarise the findings of a systematic scoping review of the existing evidence for socioeconomic inequalities in inflammation in childhood and adolescence and discuss the ways in which life course researchers can better collect and leverage longitudinal data to address the root causes of socioeconomic inequalities in health.
Presenter Information
Kavindi Gamage is a PhD student conducting a multidisciplinary project at the University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children’s Research Institute. She is interested in leveraging longitudinal data to explore the childhood origins of health inequalities across country contexts and identify opportunities for early intervention using novel causal inference methods.
How to register
Participation in this session is free of charge, but registration is required.
We do however ask you to consider becoming a member of the SLLS if you are not already, to help us continue our work in bringing the longitudinal and life course research community together. The SLLS membership year runs from January to December.
To register for this session, choose 1 in the 'quantity' dropdown box below (if you are registering a number of people, insert the overall number), then click on the 'Book Now' button and fill in the short form.
